On the solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart, the 27th June 2025, our Parish of Abbasiya-Sakakini which bears the name of the Most Sacred Heart, has celebrated her patron feast. The particularity of this year is that, apart from the jubilee of Hope of the whole Catholic church, the parish is celebrating also her own Jubilee of one hundred years of her foundation. At that occasion, the Mass was presided by His Lordship Bishop Claudio Lurati, Vicar apostolic of Alexandria of Egypt and concelebrated by Father Teckie, the Parish Priest and many other Comboni and Diocesan priests. The bishop gave to the community a message of Hope and love coming from the Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
During the Mass, 35 catechumens were confirmed. According to their tradition, all the Comboni priests present at that celebration renewed their consecration for the mission. It is important to underline that the Sacred Heart is a pilar of the spirituality of the Comboni Missionaries. This is why their congregation’s name is Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus (MCCJ). It was a great moment of thanksgiving to God for his marvelous presence in the mission He Himself has entrusted to them.
After the confirmation, each one of the candidates were given a book of the Martyrs of Najran, in order to have them as their model of witness and their intercessors in Heaven.
At the end of the Mass, all the community rejoiced with the newly confirmed and shared a light refreshment.
