Comboni Missionaries of the heart of Jesus

COMMUNITY OF BROTHERS AND PRIEST WHO PRAY AND EVANGELIZE TOGETHER

We, the Comboni Missionaries, are a community of brothers and priests who pray and evangelize together. We are called by God and are consacreted to Him by the religious vows of chastity, poverty and obedience for the service of the mission according to the charisme of Saint Daniel Comboni (RL 10). We were founded by Saint Daniel Comboni on June 1^st, 1869. Our name, Comboni Missionaries come from the name of our founder Saint Daniel Comboni.

According to our last statistics, we are 1,831 missionaries who are at the service of the Gospel all over the world. Among us, 1,103 are priests and 728 are religious brothers. Saint Daniel Comboni had founded a congregation of religious sister and are around 500 Comboni Missionaries Sisters spread all over the world.
In Egypt, our beautiful story had started by Saint Daniel Comboni, our founder who had established his mission and have had a marvelous experience of mission in the land of exile of the Holy family. He founded two institutes in Cairo when he arrived, for the formation of boys and girls in order to prepare them in any hand craft work and then, they will go back to their countries to teach what they have learnt to their brothers and sisters or to anyone in their country. That was the dream and the aim of Comboni. He put all these ideas in his plan of regeneration of Africa. And his motto was, save Africa by Africa.
We are present in the Latin Apostolic Vicariate of Alexandria in Egypt. Most especially in Cairo (in three communities: Zamalek, Abbassiya-Sakakini and Down Town-Cordi Iesu), in Helwan, and in Aswan. The Comboni Sisters are in Alexandria, Cairo, Helwan, Luxor and Awsan.
